This Mermaid is relaxing in a shell admiring her pearl. She is made from colored porcelains. The torso and arms of the fairy are slip cast in an original sculpture mold. The hair, tail, starfish, pearl, and seaweed are all hand sculpted pieces that were added on to the cast piece and placed in the hand sculpted shell. After firing and glazing her face was hand painted using china paint and fired again. Then the gold highlights for her jewelry were added and the shell and pearl were given a mother of pearl finish.

Multiple holes around the edge of the shell allow this to be incorporated into a complex multi strand necklace. This piece measures approximately 1 1/2 inches across so the full view is very blown up.

This piece is sold but visit My Bead Shop to find more Amazing Porcelain pieces.

Comment please, that's all I ask of you!
Thanks Yes, of course, I did it. I first designed and modeled the torso in wax (it was originally designed as a fairy you can see them at Porcelain Fantasies in the shop) Then made the plaster molds for the fairy. Then it was cast in porcelain. I used only the torso for this piece. The rest is hand modeled in colored porcelains and hand painted with china paint and lustres.

Wow! This piece really blew me away. I love mermaids, and you did such a wonderful job!!
Thank you so much. Glad you like her. I will be making more. I think they will be great in a necklace. You could use fiber and wire mesh and multiple strands to make a very undersea looking necklace with it.

Great design idea! This is different for you.... but I see you're showing off your amazing skill with small scale details that would make most of us shoot ourselves :eyepopping:
